No. Aligned is a communication tool guided by proven relationship frameworks including Gottman Method, Nonviolent Communication, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, and the Aligned mediator is not a licensed therapist. For serious concerns, we always recommend working with a licensed professional. No. Reflection rooms are completely private. Your partner will know you stepped into one, but they will never see what you discussed with the Aligned mediator. This is enforced at the server level, not just the interface.
One partner creates a topic and shares a unique invite code. The other partner joins by entering the code or tapping a link. Both partners then complete a short, private questionnaire before the conversation unlocks. No approval step is needed, but both people must finish onboarding before the mediator begins.
One subscription covers both of you. If either partner upgrades to Pro, both get full access. Payment is handled entirely in the app through the App Store or Google Play.
Free includes AI-mediated conversations, one active topic at a time, seven days of message history, and shared resolution summaries. Pro unlocks unlimited topics, private reflection rooms, and full conversation history.
Conversations are processed by AI to provide mediation. Your data is never used for AI model training and is never sold or shared for advertising. Private onboarding answers are only seen by the AI, never your partner. Reflection room content is never visible to your partner.
Either partner can request resolution. The other confirms, and both choose an outcome: reached an agreement, found understanding, or taking a pause. The Aligned mediator generates a shared summary of where things stand. Paused topics can be reopened later.
Aligned has built-in safety detection. If crisis language is detected, the mediator immediately pauses facilitation and provides resources including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
